Penn Performing Arts Initiative
Established in 2016, the Penn Performing Arts Initiative is a collaboration among the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Platt Student Performing Arts House and the Theatre Arts Program and the Department of Music of the School of Arts and Sciences.
The Penn Performing Arts Initiative advances co-curricular, extra-curricular and professional performing arts activities and collaborations on Penn’s campus and beyond. From artist residencies to master classes to student festivals and access to professional performances, this initiative fosters opportunities that engage both Penn students and the broader community.
The Penn Performing Arts Initiative is supported by the Penn Performing Arts Regional Council, of which there is currently one chapter in New York. These regional volunteers serve as ambassadors for the performing arts at Penn by clearly articulating the importance of the performing arts to the educational and University life experience and the need for support. Plans are in place to establish Councils in other regions, including Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago.
The three main objectives of the Penn Performing Arts Regional Council include:
- Providing a regional opportunity for Penn Alumni with a performing arts affiliation or interest to connect back to the University in a meaningful way
- Expanding University and alumni awareness of the thriving performing arts community at Penn, and the importance of the arts to the educational and University life experience
- Increasing funding for performing arts initiatives at Penn
Please join in supporting this creative collaboration and advancing the performing arts at Penn by making a gift to the Penn Performing Arts Initiative. For more information, please contact Kristin Winch, Director of Development, at 215.898.6754.
