Celebrate the music and legacy of the Jazz Epistles! Featuring original member and pianist Abdullah Ibrahim and special guest trumpeter Keyon Harrold, explore the sounds and impact of the Jazz Epistles, South Africas earliest and most influential jazz bebop band. The performance will include music from the seminal Jazz Epistles recording as well as hits from Ibrahims illustrious career.

Center offer their heartfelt sympathies and condolences
upon the passing of South African jazz legend, Hugh Masekela. A perpetual
Annenberg Center audience favorite, Masekela has graced the Zellerbach Theatre
stage many times, as recently as February 2015, and was originally slated to
return again this spring. Each sold-out performance featured Masekelas joyful
spirit and spectacular blend of South African traditions and jazz, inspiring generations
of dedicated fans. A social activist and true music icon, Hugh Masekelas death
is an immeasurable loss for our community, the music industry and the world.
