Those of you who are fans of The Sound of Music won’t want to miss this one: Fräulein Maria, a hilarious spoof on the 1965 classic, hits the stage at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts tomorrow, November 12th. There’s only a handful of performances through Saturday, November 14th, so be sure to get your hands on these tickets pronto!

After numerous sold-out runs in the Big Apple, the show makes its Philadelphia debut as part of the Dance Celebration Series at the Annenberg Center at the University of Pennsylvania. The play was conceived and choreographed by two-time Bessie Award-winning Doug Elkins & Friends. Set to the film’s famous score by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, Fräulein Maria features 13 talented dancers and 11 vignettes, in addition to no less than three Marias, cross-dressing nuns and an edgy mix if vaudeville gags, plus a unique hip-hop solo performed by Elkins himself dressed in a hoodie and basketball shorts to “Climb Ev'ry Mountain.”

Sounds crazy? You heard right– this is most definitely a comedy for the ages.
